Hello, Working Queens! Now that the Holidays are over and we’ve all gotten to exchange gifts and good tidings, some of us (the lucky ones, actually) end up with a few extra cash. Call it “Ang Pao” for the Filipino-Chinese ones, “Aguinaldo” for the rest, whatever it is—it’s a little “something, something” to “Treat Yo’ Self”, courtesy of friends and relatives.
Now the Chinese in me would tell you to deposit it in the bank—but truth be told, if you want to spend it for a bit of extra Holiday cheer, why not? Better yet, get your money’s worth and save what’s left behind, be it for yourself or people who matter to you—go for this season’s hottest promo with SM Supermalls’ Follow the Yellow Dot program. What it entails is simple:
Visit any SM Mall
Prepare your privilege cards be it SM Advantage Card, SM Prestige, BDO Rewards Emerald, Sapphire and Diamond, or ePlus.
Present your loyalty card at any participating store to get freebies, discounts, and many more. To know more about the participating stores, check out the “Follow the Yellow Dot” website over here: (https://www.smadvantage.com/privileges/smac-treats)
I visited SM Makati, SM Cebu, and SM Megamall recently to try it out and let me tell you, the “Follow the Yellow Dot” program is a gift that keeps on giving. Let me share with you the top 8 stores that I fully indulged in:
- Plains & Prints
I love how preppy yet trendy Plains & Prints is, so it was a joy to know that by buying myself a dress, I could get my money back in GCs! For every P2,000 purchase, I get P200 worth of GCs back.
- The Travel Club
I have been meaning to get my dad a Tumi luggage for the longest time. He’s very utilitarian a person so giving him something practical like a travel luggage is perfect. For every regular item you purchase, you get a 5% off and for this investment, the 5% can go a long way.
- Salon de Rose
Since my mom’s a long time customer of Salon de Rose in Cebu, I figured she needs some pampering since she barely has time to sit down and relax. For hair colour, I can get her 5% off and for hair treatments, I can get her 10% off!
I am a huge fan of Etam. It provides European lingerie that fits like a glove. The great thing about this is that I get 10% off on every P1,000 purchase (or 20% if the item is their featured category for the month)!
Since our family are natural born beach babies, it’s only appropriate I give my growing brother a pair of swimshorts from Quiksilver. Just present the card and that’s automatic 5% off for regular items!
- Bread & Butter
I like having my nails done at home but sometimes, you can’t really ascertain the quality. So what I do is buy my own nail polish! Now, I can buy some from Bread & Butter imported nail polishes with an added 15% off.
- Broadway Gemz
My yaya is pa-cute as they come. I’m tired of giving them the generic shirts that they won’t feel elated from. To support their “kikay-ness”, I plan to get them like tons of hair accessories from Broadway Gemz where a single receipt purchase worth P300 can get me a 10% off.
- Banana Peel
My driver has this tendency to wear worn-out slippers while driving—force of habit maybe. So I’m going to gift him with a new pair so he can finally retire his 5-year-old pair. Get 5% off for a minimum purchase of P500.
The choices of stores are contingent to the people on my gift-list. I’m sure you all have your own preferences so really, just go check out their sites so you can see where you can take “advantage” of your SM Advantage Card (pun intended), and enjoy!
