It’s still Spring in some parts of the world but… in a country like mine that’s quite near the equator and where sunshine is in abundance, it might as well be Summer already! It can get crazy humid and trust me, the urge to dress up will fizzle like a gallon of water poured on a modest flame. This is why, for the summer, I’m all for the #cozy trend, which is a fancier “casual” and a more subdued “normcore.” Thank God for Sneakers being an acceptable form of statement shoes, I don’t think my sweaty feet would appreciate walking hundreds of meters in pointy court shoes.
I guess this is the fashionication–excuse my made-up term–of the #wokeuplikethis look. One that makes your #ootds appear like it’s not at all curated, something you threw together on a whim in less than 10 seconds when the truth is, it took you almost an hour the night before to come up with a minimalistic, dressed-down ensemble that projects a “Devil May Care” attitude yet somehow, pleasing to the eye and harmoniously coordinated to a tee. There’s nothing wrong with that, nowadays, I’m guilty of such.
Casual and comfortable, no matter how seemingly easy it is to nail, does not come naturally to me. When I think of dressing up, I opt for fancy dresses and distinct pattern… certainly not blank canvases. Though it is an exercise in creativity and in aesthetic, I am starting to have a new appreciation for it. Though this outfit I’m wearing in this post isn’t by any means “minimalist” or even “normcore”, I think it’s the best compromise for my innate style and the #cozy trend. Here are some more photos:
