I perfectly understand why people in general, tend to neglect their hair–in a fashionable girl’s list of priorities, it comes after clothes, makeup, bag, shoes, and accessories. Likewise, it’s the hardest thing to control (unlike fashion choices) and it’s so time consuming. If you’re OC, then it’s definitely a nightmare to perfect. I would know because I grew up with hair that was neither straight nor curly–not even in between! On some days, it would be more curly (depending on the weather) and on some days it would seem a bit straighter (depending on how I’d comb my hair too)… it was generally so frustrating to deal with it.
If you have bipolar hair like mine then I’m pretty sure you’ve tried all sorts of treatments and gimmicks–I’ve had my hair rebonded, curled, colored, and treated; whatever trendy promises a salon made, I had most definitely tried it. This brought about a dozen of looks and well, fried and ugly hair. It took me a long time to learn and love that untameable part of me and embrace it for its good qualities because, my hair is crazy thick, and it can hold on to a certain style for hours on end.
As I joined the workforce, I’ve come to realize that immaculate hair is a must and shouldn’t be taken for granted. A beautiful outfit should be complemented with great hair, otherwise… the hair will throw the entire thing off kilter. You know how I always say, more than the big gestures, it’s the little ones that matter as well? It applies to hair! It gives people the preview of how you treat small details like your hygiene for example or your time management skills.
So when I’m made up, I commit to it–from top to toe, literally. I’m not saying that your hair has to be perfect always, but you have to at least pay attention to it. Your hair is your accessory, always remember that when you present yourself in a spectacular outfit. Your whole look is a package deal… most especially for important occasions.
That said, I do understand that to get great hair requires good skills as well… something I don’t have the patience with most of the time. Usually, I have my Help assist me but even then, there’s only so much she can do. So when I was introduced to Big Day Blow Dry, a home service blow dry bar, I felt like everything came into full circle. When I have to attend an event for example, I don’t have to go out and have my hair done at a Salon… now I can have them come over and do my hair any way I want to. Plus, they have a menu of styles that cater to any occasion–with competitive prices to boot (if not cheaper, since I do pay more than 500 for a simple blowdry at my usual Salon). I chose a very laid-back style: the Romantic, if only because I can’t usually nail a seemingly-effortless-but-clean-loosely-curled-hair kind of look. In fact, I’m so obsessed with it, I’m definitely going to be a repeat customer! Check out my hair and my outfit for this day:
