Sorry for the short hiatus last week–the arrival and exit of Typhoon Glenda, coupled with my Angkong’s 90th Birthday bash in Cebu, and my boyfriend’s imminent departure rendered me “missing-in-action” for the past few days. I have a lot on my plate right now so I really can’t help but push away the things that rank lower in my hierarchy of priorities… blogging included.
Thankfully, things eased up on my front a wee bit so I was able to squeeze in a short shooting session before leaving for the airport last Saturday. The outfit on this set is another take of my interpretation of “Normcore”–or maybe that’s just my default categorization for the simplest of outfits. Also, it’s important to note that I was semi-channeling Keira Knightley’s character in Begin Again (one of my new favorite movies, my new Silver Linings Playbook) hence the geeky Hipster glasses and dated clogs.
Airport dressing is a nightmare for someone like me–I’m susceptible to the cold and I’m usually all over the place sleeping on my airplane seat with legs spread so I really have to dress appropriately and comfortably. I took a risk on normal by wearing jeans and I hardly ever wear denim jeans! It’s just too rugged and deconstructed for me, the fit is almost always tricky–and my boyfriend absolutely loathes it. He has an irrational dislike for girls wearing denim–which works well and fine with me since I’m not really that much of a denim fan myself. I did make an exception for this trip, along with my trusty first generation Givenchy Pandora that can fit almost my entire house and then some, plus my uber comfy clog sandals that don’t look too shabby but are just as comfortable as flats (we had a party to attend to the moment we land in Cebu)!
So when you find yourself making a trip somewhere, specifically non-overhaul destinations, I suggest you go for the sweater-jeans combo. Also, I would discourage people from wearing heels but at the same time, I’d like to say that it’s not impossible to wear them. If you don’t own the right pair then don’t even bother–bunions and callous don’t ever look good on anyone’s feet, but if you have the trustiest, comfiest pair of heels that can rival Repetto ballerina flats then by all means, use them.
Here are some more photos of this “new normal airport outfit.”
I’ve been so busy recently that I’m so far behind giving a few brands their well-deserved “shout-outs” for sending me some of their products via mail… bad blogger, I know! It’s always a well-received surprise when I come home from work and see an unexpected package on my kitchen counter. Thank you so much to the following:
Thank you so much, Tresemme Philippines for a quarter’s supply of hair care products!
To my Maybelline Philippines family for always sending me great OTC makeup, promoting healthy skin. I’ve yet to try this but I’m sure it’ll be wonderful.
I am a huge fan of Burt’s Bees products! I’ve been using them since I was in elementary so I was ecstatic when Sampleroom.ph sent me this! For those of you who haven’t chanced upon Sampleroom, it’s very simple–all you have to do is sign up on the website, earn points through registration, choose the sample you want, check it out and wait for it to arrive at your doorstep, post a review of the said product, earn points, then repeat! This website is pure genius and a hoarder’s paradise, trust me! So please, for those who haven’t tried it out, do so.
Likewise, this is my first engagement with Covergirl Philippines and truth be told, I have never tried any of their products. They sent me a lovely pail of their award-winning mascara formula. Because I was so busy, I actually forgot to have my lashes retouched this week so this mascaras came in perfect timing. I used the lash-blast volume when I was in Cebu and I’m so impressed with it. This is the only mascara I have that does not clump at all! The wands are very ergonomic and putting it on was just a breeze–perfect for girls with lash extensions.
