Believe it or not, this is the outfit I’m wearing right now–how’s that for real-time blogging? Anyway, for such a playful and risky palette, it’s hard to believe that whilst putting this ensemble together in the morning, I had to fix a minor hiccup at the office–a rookie mistake that was ironed out in less than half an hour. To compensate for the seemingly bad start, I decided to take it out on my closet… instead of the dependable blouse and trousers combo I usually put on when I’m not in the mood to think of what to wear, I decided to put a twist to it by employing colors I normally, in my rational state-of-mind, would never consider.
For today, it’s pink and red. It’s such a strange color combination, don’t you think? A lot could have gone wrong. It’s like putting together red and purple or green and navy–just deplorable. Maybe it’s because both hues are too cozy in the same color family? Anyway, in addition to my hasty judgment, I blame the chemicals my brain released from today’s 20-minute long early morning run for the precarious choice.
To be fair, the pink of my blouse is a much cooler pink than what’s seen on this photo set. The warm tone I employed via Lightroom filters is making it come off redder than it should be.
My gamble paid off though–more than 5 people complimented me on my outfit today. So yes, I woke up on the wrong side of the bed but… I was able to make a comeback! Having the choice to pick my outfit and to go through with it even if it was against my norm, made me feel in control of myself and how I would maneuver this day. With that sense of independence, I was able to exude and imbibe a “good mood.” Today, I realized that no one should beat themselves up for one tiny mistake… a bad instance should not define your mood for the entire day and it shouldn’t define what you do in the future. People make mistakes, that’s what makes us all humans, but what makes everyone even better humans is that if we all learn to bounce back with a vengeance.
My lesson for the day is that: in the midst of minor embarrassing hurdles and temporary strains, don’t crawl under a rock and wait for the world to swallow you–yes, be meek and apologize, but move on after and don’t stop yourself from doing great things. Here are some more photos:
