Two weeks ago, I took a short trip to Cebu over the weekend just to attend a childhood friend’s wedding. Since that was my only agenda, I opted to pack light–think, just three sets of clothes: one daytime outfit, one sleepwear set, and the gown for the wedding itself. So this particular outfit was the daytime set I wore to the airport–which I think is comfortable and casual. I didn’t really think much about putting everything together, essentially I just wanted to wear something appropriate for when I lug around my miniature luggage.
Going home to attend my childhood friend’s wedding felt like a “Homecoming.” Although we were really tight friends back when we were 13 (she insisted that I needed concealer and bought me my first, now I can’t live without one), we grew apart throughout the years. We are still good friends though but we only communicate sporadically via Facebook. Unlike me, she was constantly in-touch with the rest of High School whereas I was detached.
One thing is certain however, she is a much awesome-r person than I am: beautiful, sexy, athletic, hilarious, kind, loving, and frivolous. She was the type of person who was always happy, and somehow, her happiness was infectious. So I’m really glad that I actually took the time to be a part of her wedding… normally, I avoid weddings as I’m super timid and lazy, but I just couldn’t miss this.
Being at the wedding felt surreal though. I saw a handful of High School classmates, most of which I haven’t seen in almost a decade. In fact, some of them were happily married with kids–who would have thought? I guess my perpetual mental age is 16 so I can never fully let go of the “age of innocence.”
To commemorate simplicity, back when the world didn’t have iPads or iMessaging to communicate… here are more photos of the prosaic outfit that somehow coincides with my thoughts:
