To date, I still have a week (or well, one day less of a week, to be precise) ’til I finally jump fully on board with one of the best digital advertising agencies I just recently signed up with. As the day draws near, I’m starting to get less anxious–I’m mostly plain excited this time around as I can’t wait to start anew and relearn the industry from scratch. In fact, today, I eagerly participated on a full-day planning session with my would-be team–just to get introduced to most of my soon-to-be colleagues and to get a feel of the work process.
It was a productive meeting, actually. I was able to see how everyone functioned and I was able to pace myself in terms of expectation and delivery. On the other hand, I do have to get used to longer hours again! Although I’ve only been off my day job for 2 months, I feel like I’ve gotten way too accustomed to living life as an unemployed bum. First on my list, I have to fix my body clock so I can ease in to my Little Miss Sunshine disposition (since I’m not a “morning” person at all); afterwards, I have to get my groove so I can come up with a routine where I can squeeze in work with good meals, family time, and gym training.
In all honesty though, adjusting (to anything) is a right pain in the ass. As I’ve reiterated, I’m a creature of habit and constant evolution takes a conscious effort from the recesses of my soul (I’m a 90s Homo Sapien, not a Pterodactyl) but hey, I’m pretty confident that I can overcome whatever apprehensions I have.
Also, I figured it’s going to be a tumultuous first month–I’m manually regulating every aspect in my life to accommodate my new career path and so I might be busier than usual. Off-hand, I’m sorry for the lack-luster content… I honestly wish I had new insight to evoke but I’m just fixing so many things that I can’t form a coherent train of thought these past few weeks. Likewise, I’m so in the zone with my new career that I just can’t seem to involve myself with anything from the peripheral of what’s currently happening–does that even make sense?
Anyway, I’m rambling. Since I’ll be decked in corporate outfits once again (but even more relaxed this time, given the advertising industry’s standards), I’m purposefully upping a backlog from before Boracay wherein I’m wearing the epitome of my Summer outfit–composed of flute skirts, peaches, pinks, and whites! To all Fashionistas out there, I have the news for you!
The country’s leading fashion and lifestyle specialty retailer, SSI, launched its shiny new mobile app called “SSI Life”, which gives customers like you and me, a whole new approach to retail experience. Smartphone users will be able to browse and get app-exclusive offers from more than 600 store locations of the more than 80 different brands of SSI such as Bally, Calvin Klein, Debenhams, Boss, Lacoste, M&S, Tommy Hilfiger, Zara and a lot more. So on top of keeping yourself up-to-date with the latest season’s offerings, you get first dibs on discounts and promotions.
So the SSI Life app brings SSI’s loyal customers (like me, and maybe you) closer to their brands. According to Catherine Huang, Manager of the Digital Media Office at SSI, “The developments made in technology have greatly affected our customers’ lifestyle and expectations. Based on market statistics, it is estimated that over 90 percent of the local customer base for lifestyle brands are already using smartphones. The SSI Life mobile app will be our primary mode for reaching this market through this medium.”
So on top of getting exclusive vouchers and infos on their brands, users will also get exclusive campaign notifications every time they visit any mall in the country! Anton Huang, Executive Vice President of SSI, said they are excited to connect with their customers digitally. “With the lifestyles of our customers becoming more mobile, we are happy to be able to connect with them more personally thru the ‘SSI Life’ app. This is definitely in keeping with SSI’s role as the leading lifestyle purveyor in the country. This time around, we will be the first to connect on a very intimate way with our customer thru this new medium.”
On a personal note, I do check my SSI Life app before I head out to the mall to see what exclusive deals I can avail of. Right now, there is a promo for Marks & Spencer customers especially for Father’s Day this sunday wherein you get a free gift for a minimum purchase of 3,000 bucks! Hopefully, for June, we’ll get more information and announcements on upcoming deals and end-of-season sales!
