So last Tuesday noon (on the very first day of my unemployment, mind you), I was invited by the Metro Department Store marketing team for a fun-filled shopping day all the way to Market, Market! Growing up in Cebu, Metro Department Store was (and still probably is) the center of every Cebuano shopper’s consciousness–need school socks, underwear, school supplies, or uniform? Head straight to their branch over at Ayala Center Cebu! However, only a handful of my High School friends and I know it also to be a treasure trove of cheap and trendy fashion finds so there is that also.
Fast Forward to 10 years after, I’m just plain curious as to what they had to offer to their Manila consumers.
Upon being introduced to the team, we had a short informal Focus-Group discussion–talking about fashion trends, the young market, and what amount everyone would deem to be worth their money when it comes to fashion splurges. I was introduced to literally everyone–the merchandisers, the stylists, the brand managers… but what stayed with me was my discussion with the VP of Marketing Cesar Jesena, when he said that they want people with a thirst for fashion to be aware that at Metro Department Store, they can find fashionable items for a really cheap price and that they do have a lot to offer simply because, “fashion shouldn’t be exclusive, it should be made accessible for everyone.”
This is the noble mindset Metro Department store is working with and that is a brand I want to be a part of, a brand I want to fully support!
I’ve always believed that fashion is a means for you to express yourself–designer garbs are nice to have but it is not a necessity. They also do not determine whether you are fashionable or not. The more respectable fashionistas are those who make do with what they have and those who don’t care about society’s norms… after all, one can always be fashionable if they choose to be, all they have to do is continue to be creative.
So allow me to share with you the outfit I wore for the said day, paired with this powder blue and camel trendy ankle-strapped heeled sandals I got from Metro Department Store’s in-house shoe brand: Follie. Likewise, I will be sharing with everyone photos from the adventure!
Now for a virtual tour of Metro Department Store… here’s to hoping you drop by and go nuts with their inventory:
Would you believe that these beautiful beach essentials are all below 500 bucks?
These men’s clothes are also easy on the pocket–and they have the cutest prints and use high quality materials that will keep you cool despite the summer heat wave! The merchandisers made sure to choose everything from the prints to the fabric to ensure that it’s perfect for every fun-loving Pinoy fashionista–male or female!
They are imbibing their “Great Style, Great Price” adage and informing their consumers of their brand’s equity.
Printed tees and cropped tops are made available for the young ones and those who are young at heart.
If you are aware of the cult brand Apartment 8, then you’d be surprised to find out that they do offer exclusive designs only at Metro Market Market, with price points that are much lower than the ones they usually give online! This floral set for Spring is a favorite of mine–I think I came home with about 3 pieces from their collection! Not to mention, this collaboration has been going on for the past how many years, even back when I was visiting Metro Department Store in Cebu!
These pretty accessories are barely 300 bucks! The acrylic ones are my favorite–something that’s literally fresh off the runway. If you buy these elsewhere, you’d be presented with an 800 peso price point.
Some stores may say they have it all and they do have it all, but I don’t think they’ll have everything this fairly cheap. So what are you waiting for? You want something unique without having to allocate a bigger budget for shopping? Head over to Metro Market Market and see what they have to offer! I assure you, they won’t disappoint!
