A few days before Christmas, my good friend (also a renowned photographer extraordinaire) Jay Tablante invited me to shoot for kicks. It’s been so long since we’ve done something together–be it a styling collaboration or an on-location shoot that I just couldn’t say no. Plus, Jay is the only photographer (boyfriend not included) who can somehow coax “sexy” out of me… I don’t know if it’s a physical impediment on my part or maybe Jay’s just really great with giving directions and composing photographs that he can make even a broomstick look sexy.
It was a wonderful opportunity to work with such a great team also, from Kiko who prepped me to look like a gorgeous vixen to my boyfriend who patiently (and proudly) took my BTS photos. It’s also been so long since I’ve literally modeled for anything that I kind of missed it! Thankfully, I wasn’t as rusty as I thought I would be and maybe, just maybe, this 2014, I’m looking into booking modeling jobs once in a while and collaborating with other photographers for shoots.
Speaking of 2014, I would like to greet you all a Happy New Year! I know I’m a day late but I’m sure you’re all too hung over or busy with the Holidays to even mind (though I really do hope you’re taking the time to read my content). I won’t go in depth and preachy in this particular post. I’ll save that for the next one!
One thing is for sure though and I know old readers read this a lot from me but, only change is constant and with 2014, there will be changes. Big ones, that’s for sure. I can’t say if it’s good or bad yet, but just different. I guess the only thing we can count on is to push further. I’ve always made it a point to push hard every year but I think that as I grow older, as the Earth grows older with each passing year, everyone should push their hardest. What is it that you see in Pinterest? Those quotes that go: “Live Each Day Like It’s Your Last” or “YOLO” or “Carpe Diem?” Well, that’s what I’m going to do. I’m going to push hard and I’m going to enjoy this 2014–changes be damned!
So for this set, I went in ahead and indulged myself with “Grunge Fashion” complete with Tartan, Leather, and Studs. I’m pretty ecstatic that this trend came into fore, really! I’m a fan of grunge and biker music (not the biggest of course but I like my Pearl Jam and Alice in Chains just fine) so this was a sort-of homage. Here are some more photos:
As promised, the winner of the Mendrez Shoes is…
