The Holidays usually call for the following: Christmas cheer, social functions, the presence of pretty shiny things at every corner, and of course… gifts! I also generally like dressing up in Fall/Winter colors too–which are of the darker, bolder hues only I get to gratuitously inject sparkle in the form of glitters and bejeweled somethings.
I’m sure you can all relate with the fashion “must-haves” when December rolls in. What most people overlook though, is the key role one’s “hair” plays. Yes, you heard me right! Hair.
I’ve always been very particular when it comes to my hair. I didn’t have the coveted straight Asian hair so I had to give my wavy ones extra attention to ensure it was healthy and shiny most of the time. I guess it had something to do with my upbringing too! I mean, my mom has always had an obsession with hair products… at six, I was already using Thermasilk for my shampoo and conditioner, and by the time I was 12, I was already using Kerastase and Paul Mitchell.
Unfortunately, post-college, I was so excited with my independence that I decided to experiment with my hair sans parental consent. So I dyed my hair in shades of red, strawberry, and blonde–bleaching it on a monthly basis until it needed to be repaired… badly. Of course, I still frequently visited the salon for a variety of treatments and cuts but it wasn’t only until recently that I’ve decided I have to be “nicer” to my tresses.
So apart from signing up with a powerhouse salon brand for an endorsement this last quarter, I’ve also gone back to the basics–as you may know, I’ve dyed my hair a darker shade of brown thanks to my L’Oreal family and I’ve been told by a lot of people that it looks decidedly healthy as of late.
Of course, there are still times when I want to be experiment with my hair but in preparation for the abuse it’s going to undergo this summer, I’ve promised myself to lay-off artificial chemicals the next few months at least. To remedy my fickle nature, I’ve resorted to buying hair extensions! Because I’m very picky with the quality, I only trust Tokyo Posh!
So treat your hair out to a change without doing permanent damage! Check out Tokyo Posh at Rockwell. Here is a collaborative shoot that we did recently and I am loving my long, curly auburn ombre locks:
So just a quick, announcement! The winner for the L’Oreal contest is…
