Forgive me for posting a few days delayed. I’ve been bouncing back from being busy with work and Halloween to being sick (my blood pressure’s off the roof and my acid reflux is acting up again) but thankfully, I had the time to take photos and edit on one particular gloomy work day a few weeks ago.
I apologize for the photo quality, there was no light anymore by the time my helper and I were shooting. Thankfully, it’s still pretty decent for a rainy 6-ish Monday in October (thank you exposure and gamma ray correction). So I just wanted to share this outfit with you guys because I’ve been posting way too much Street Style posts and I wanted to show you that when I’m obsessed with a certain look or trend, I don’t really wear it incessantly. I think doing so paves way for monotony and if there’s anything I am in terms of fashion, it’s spontaneous and experimental (as opposed to my predictable, boring self) and not the aforementioned.
Anyway, this was the outfit I donned to accompany my boyfriend and his parents after work, for a meeting with the architect and contractor of their new house. This very same outfit received praises from my boyfriends parents–they’re usually very fond of clean and sophisticated looks so I was very pleased with my apparel selection for the day. If there’s anything, I guess the crowning glory of said outfit is my coat–which has the sixties mod cut, which I got from Cleo-Cat, a Singaporean online brand that sells wholesale Korean Fashion. The quality is pretty superb as well! Here are some more photos:
Before I forget, I want to add this new segment in my blog where I do product reviews worth sharing. Since people are asking me on what I use for my skin, where I shop, etcetera, I’ll use this part to answer some of your questions. I don’t have a header yet, I’ll make one soon but let’s start with this product I’m dying to share. Now, I’m pretty selfish with my discoveries but for my readers, I’ll make an exception…
People always ask me my secret for flawless skin (my boyfriend and his mom included) but the truth is… my skin isn’t really that flawless (Thank you though for thinking otherwise).
True, I don’t get pimples often and my skin has an innate sheer glow to it that allows me to skip highlighters often but there are a few bumps and dry patches on my skin and seeing them frustrates me. Really. They usually go unnoticed thanks to modern makeup technology that are of superior quality, with a price tag that makes you think you’re putting on liquid gold but hey, I’m very anal with how my skin appears in public so it’s mostly worth the investment.
When my hormones go haywire, the bumps multiply and more often than not, I get a tiny pimple. It doesn’t always happen monthly… probably once every quarter but when they do appear, they makeup for the lost months and come in full force! Thankfully, Beyond Beauty Cosmetique , sent me this toner to try out. Upon receiving it, I was very intrigued by the professional packaging–it looks rightfully intimidating with its no-nonsense font.
A lot of us are used to buying cutesy products from Korean store pop-ups, right? Well, I’m very finicky and I don’t really use random products on my face. I made the mistake of using a supermarket power brand back in college and I had the worst case of skin allergies and acne that may have lasted for 2 weeks but had me traumatized for the rest of my life. Sue me, my skin is sensitive–I’ve been living with contact dermatitis brought about by… dust… for the past 6 years. So if I’m a bit too snooty when it comes to my face products, allow me to really. I’ve every right to be.
So anyway, I made a leap of faith to try it. I’ve read up on it and saw good reviews and I figured, what’s the worst that could happen? I already had a pimple or two from my monthly girly problems. I wanted to use it for 2 days straight and if I see any negative drastic changes, I was going to stop completely. On the first day, I didn’t notice much improvement honestly and was initially resigned that maybe the formulation wasn’t strong but on the second day, because I had another blossoming pimple, I decided to use it all over my face and apply a dab of salicylic acid. Surprisingly, the day after, it was gone! Now, the thing is, I’ve been using this same Salicylic formulation for the past 5 years and though it works, it would take multiple days to do so but now, paired with my Bioderma toner, it worked like a charm!
I experimented with it a few more times that same week and was floored by the results. I loved it! So now, I use it every single night–with or without my salicylic acid for maintenance. For those who aren’t really very sensitive or particular with the stuff they use on their face or are willing to take the leap, I highly recommend Bioderma (which you can get from Beyond Beauty Cosmetique)… it’s a slight bit pricey but it’s worth it.
