Louis Vuitton Inspired Dress: Fashiondipity | Platform Sandals: So Fab! | Bag: 3.1 Phillip Lim | Necklace: Forever 21 | Sunnies: Celine | Bangle: Hermes | Watch: Gucci
I wore this particular outfit to work a week or so ago, on the very same day I had a clearing for a client presentation with the president of our Marketing and Services arm. Upon entering her gigantic office, she commented on my dress (said it was cute and so trendy) and asked if it was from Louis Vuitton (no, it wasn’t). My boss is a Dragon Lady; she’s insanely intelligent, and known in her line of work–she does remind me of Miranda Priestly sometimes, only with minimal makeup.
Somehow, she’s always had this perception of me as a brand whore or a privileged child–which is somewhat accurate but not wholly. When she was newly instated, she stopped mid-sentence in the middle of a meeting to examine my Balenciaga bag and declared it as the “real deal.” It was, of course, as I had got it as a present in 2005, upon graduating High School (it was a limited edition Blue Jean Twiggy bag, which I had dyed to navy eventually).
A few weeks later, in a getting-to-know session, she had called me to her office (she’s been calling everyone individually from the Sales department) and asked me bluntly if I really needed this job (to which I answered immediately: yes, for the experience but not for the money). She smiled and said it was “very telling of my character” and advised that I ought to like–crave even–the “money-making” aspect to ensure that I deliver the best results.
I’m not the best one in that office, really. I know it in my heart. However, I’ve been giving results. It’s a steady rise but I’m getting there. Anyway, here are a few more photos:
