It goes without saying (since I’ve said it a million times already), I am obsessed with the whole Street Style: Football Jersey trend, as seen on Rihanna, Aimee Song, and Cara Delevingne. Who would have thought that Quarterback Outfits would be all the rage these days, right? I certainly didn’t. It’s like bumping ratty gym clothes a few pegs up.
It’s irrational, really. I mean, I was never really a fan of American football after all (granted, I am from the Philippines) so I really can’t defend why I’m so attracted to the trend. I guess you can liken it to wearing your boyfriend’s clothes–there’s just something so intrinsically sensual and inexplicably sexy with it.
So I’m going to maximize this trend until the very last days of its life cycle!
I mean, if I had a choice, I would want to look effortlessly chic with zero maintenance involved! And this trend delivers… I don’t have to over-think anything–I just put the top on, and voila! Instant outfit! It puts the “E” in Effortless down to a tee. So now, I can gallivant in the comfiest clothes known to humankind without being called “sloppy.” What a great trade-off!
So anyway, this was what I wore to one seemingly run-of-the-mill Saturdate. I say “seemingly” because everyone has this notion that my going on “Fridates, Saturdates, and Sundates” pretty much sum up my weekend activities with the boyfriend. Which is, mostly accurate by the way, but by no means reduced to merely just that or in any way boring or uneventful. As routinary as it seems, I actually appreciate and like being tame and low-key. It’s a sign of maturity, after all. We’ve gone past the clubbing days (separately) and are pretty much done attending “hi-hi” society events, so a quiet night spent with each other’s company is more ideal and fulfilling.
Besides, it’s not where you are that matters, it’s who you’re with, right?
So for this particular date, we had my sister Paige third wheel with us. By adding her to the mix, we’ve suddenly thrown in a different ingredient to our weekend special–an extra hand who can take good photos! After a bit of shopping, I treated two of the most important people in my life to Hainanese food as a reward for their patience and cooperation (my sister for the photos, my boyfriend for the shopping). Afterwards, we capped it off with a movie (Percy Jackson)!
Here are some more photos (which, unfortunately, do not include my sister because she’s very camera-shy):
