When I’m on tourist mode, I always resort to Street Style–case in point, my Hong Kong and Singapore outfits. Okay, scratch that, when I’m on my “lazy” mode, I always resort to Street Style… but only as of late. I’ve been bit by the Street Style bug early this year with the influx of collegiate cotton shirts and sneaker wedges from high street brands. Besides, it’s just so darn comfortable–who wouldn’t want to trade in their heels for sneakers, especially on days that require lots of walking? I like the soles of my feet, baby soft and callous/bunion-free, mind you!
But going “street” for me, isn’t really a usual occurrence. People always tell me that it seems like I live in corporate outfits or chic-casuals… which is, by the way, mostly true. I’m hardly ever in edgy ensembles or super casual wear, but the truth is, I like to diversify my style. Being associated to merely one style is boring.
So this particular outfit is an example of my experimentation (and laziness). I wore this to our most recent visit to Manila Ocean Park for JL and Andrew’s second monthsary. I’ve always wanted to go to Manila Ocean Park… I’ve been to a few aquariums and observatories abroad but never from the Philippines, so I figured, why not be patriotic for a change and contribute to the Philippine economy?
Besides, what would be a great way to spend your Saturday? Shopping? Partying? We’re way past that. There comes a point in one’s life when you’re just done with all the pretentiousness of things so you crave for new and enriching ways to entertain yourselves.
Otherwise known as “maturity.” Something I’ve been cursed with since I was 18… don’t get me wrong, when I say mature, I don’t mean it in a self-righteous way, I mean it in an “OMG, you’re old” kind of way. I was never the typical teenager/yuppie–I was alternative (yes, even my taste in music before was Alternative and my taste in movies, foreign-indie). I did the strangest things… I’ve rappelled upside down, I’ve zip-lined, I’ve rafted, I’ve dove, I’ve camped, I’ve saled, I’ve bungeed, I’ve traveled alone, I’ve raced, I’ve played a musical instrument, I’ve buried myself in books… I’ve basically created a mental bucket list that I’ve been fulfilling successfully for the past few years. This is why I like firsts… I like being able to do things not a lot of people can. I guess I feel like there’s always so much more to life that’s left unexplored and that, every single day is an opportunity to discover things.
So now we’re done with Ocean Park, the next on our list is Zoobic! Here’s to more meaningful excursions in the future! 🙂
So we wanted to go all out with the kitsch motif… we were already tourists, doing Street Style, so we figured, why not be pretend Korean tourists with our matching white couple tees?
Unfortunately, we’ve a weird sense of humor but it’s a shared weirdness! Maybe that’s why we’re really made for each other! Haha!
