It’s been so dark and gloomy out lately that I’ve finally come to accept that summer’s officially over (as if I have a choice). It’s a tragedy, really. As much as I love the bed weather, I’m an even bigger fan of the summer season.
But I’m over it.
On the bright side, I have a closet brimming with coats and jackets that I can finally utilize (that I should already utilize because the sale season is right around the corner and I have tons of unworn Forever 21, Ever New, Zara, Mango, Topshop, Bershka, and Stradivarius pieces–it’s a travesty, really). On the downside, I can’t take pretty outdoor shots as much anymore unless I want to be drenched by acid rain on a regular Manila afternoon.
However, and I repeat, however… I figured, just because it’s raining outside doesn’t mean I can’t take the party inside, right? Light bulb! So I whipped out my tripod and my heavy duty flash; with the assistance of my favorite household help ever (and forever bosom buddy) Roselle, we took inspiration from Nylon’s high-key lighting and let loose.
Yes, me… jumping up and down, and being altogether goofy. A lot of people find it hard to believe that I’m a very playful person–I guess it’s because I appear serious and quiet most of the time (which is basically my default persona in public, when I’m not in my comfort zone). People who know me though, know for a fact that I’m a very happy, smiley, and self-deprecating person. Back in high school, I was the class clown–my jokes and impersonations were always a blockbuster (until I lost weight and suddenly I wasn’t so funny anymore), so yes, I still like horsing around and being sarcastic.
To set the mood, we played “I love it” by Icona Pop–it’s such a catchy tune, something that’s in between pussy rock and girly pop. I’m an auditory person and beats heavily inspire me (but I don’t really make a big deal out of it or crown myself the music queen or anything, I’m not that pretentious)–this is obviously a song sang by someone whose intent was to be carefree after a breakup… it’s like Cyndi Lauper’s “Girls Just Wanna Have Fun” with a dash of crazy starring an arsonist ex who says she “doesn’t care” and “loves it” but “crashes her car into a bridge” anyway after “throwing his shit into a bag and pushing it down the stairs.”
I swear, that song is hilarious. It has me in fits and giggles all the time.
Anyway! Here are some more photos…
