More than any other color palette, I’ve always expressed a preference for muted colors falling in between the creams, the beiges, and the nudes spectrum. I like the occasional loud fluorescents and the deep jewel tones, but I think I consider pastels as a close second.
However, pastels are still muted colors though, right? So they should be lumped under a subcategory of my first preference? Anyway, I digress, I’m such a geek. I love how dainty, cozy, and delicate muted colors appear to be. Yes , some people might find them boring and bland, but well, I don’t know, I think more than a reflection of my aesthetics, the aforementioned color hues speak volumes of my personality.
I mean, I am a bland and boring person to the core. I’m proud of it. I like routines, I’m not very difficult to please, and I enjoy the company of my innermost thoughts all the time. Yes, I can be pretty spontaneous, impulsive, and opinionated–and had it not been for these anomalous and contradictory neuroses then I probably would not have been worth a second look.
I don’t like attention in general. I’m not the type who would volunteer myself to give out speeches, hardly the person you would approach to light up an entire room. I’m very introverted. I’m ambitious but I’m introverted. I don’t like big productions. What you see is what you get, no theatrics as I’m very straightforward.
Which is a far cry from my childhood personality considering I was once vivacious and demanded all eyes on me. I was like a show monkey, I would sing and dance at the slightest provocation even if I could never carry a tune and was totally uncoordinated. I liked being praised, I liked being acknowledged.
However, growing up, I realized that it was hard to keep up with people’s expectations. I wasn’t happy doing things for them. I also realized that when you’re often under scrutiny, your failures would be all the more apparent.
So I said, to hell with it, here’s your spotlight, I resign. I’m going to stand here in the back and do what I want to do.
I’m not saying I’ve given up. I’m also not saying I don’t like being acknowledged for my good deeds. Sometimes, I take on tasks where I am put in front of the world, to challenge myself. I guess what I’m trying to say is that I do things now because I want to do them, because it pleases me.
But that’s just me.
This was the outfit I wore to a Saturdate outing with my boyfriend at Lusso, in Greenbelt 5. This was immediately after Boracay and prior to Hong Kong, a day before our 11th monthsary.
So I really wanted to wear something laid-back and urban chic. I was away for a week on an island wearing barely anything but bikinis, so I wanted to dress up like I was in Manila (without going over the top).
Speaking of Urban Chic (and Pastels), a brand that exudes and lauds such look has arrived to the shores of Manila! See a sneak-peek of their lookbook! I for one will be present in their soft launch this Thursday at SM Aura! Do drop by and shop to build up your chic closet!
