A couple of weeks ago, I was invited by my boyfriend’s father to attend their company’s blessing ceremony in the outskirts of Batangas. Upon arrival, I was welcomed by the scent of freshly cut grass, the amount of expansive green land, and the towering size of the building.
From groggy, my mood shifted to one that’s full of awe. It was such a beautiful bucolic backdrop; early in the morning, with the sun shining out brightly, and for a moment, it made me think that maybe one day, I could possibly retire and move back to the province. It reminded me of my roots, coming from Cebu and all that.
I personally love how calm and serene the setting is–it was as if time had stopped to allow mere mortals to appreciate the simple beauty of life and everything in it.
Thankfully, I opted for a simple outfit with a touch of something corporate. I didn’t want to come off too “trying hard” with something fashionably bold and attention grabbing. I wasn’t there to steal the show after all nor was I there to compete with the company’s main event.
I believe that more than self-expression, fashion is all about dressing for the occasion. I mean, sure, fashion is essentially one’s outlet for communicating one’s story to an audience but one must remember that above all, one has to be guided by the common rules of courtesy and decorum.
So I made sure I came in something simple but nothing short of elegant and tasteful. Since I restricted myself from something overly fancy, I capitalized on bringing out my body’s silhouette. After all, I’ve wonderful womanly curves so why not flaunt it? I felt very “First Lady”-esque! A mix of Michelle Obama and Kate Middleton, the duchess of Cambridge.
