Floral Blazer, Floral Shorts: Apartment 8 | Earrings: Aldo’s | Ring, Silk Top: Forever 21 | Cream Snakeskin Peep-toes: LAMB | Cream Hobo Bag: Gucci
I’ve always had a penchant for pantsuits in general. I’ve worn them during my late college years for various advertising and marketing classes and I’ve always loved falling into that sensation, you know, that weird dream sequence where you think you’re already a professional and working corporate, and you’re gallivanting all over the place looking so made up, neat, and well put-together. Fond memories of fantasizing having to leave school work behind and earning big bucks.
My advice, youngsters? Enjoy it while you can. Study, run for latin honors, learn something! Don’t settle for mediocre grades, don’t settle for the easy professors, and no matter what you do, don’t drop out. Education is tres important! Remember, when the going gets tough, the tough gets going, and trust me, the real world is much, much harder.
Anyway, I think corporate wear in general has transcended their primary function and has crossed various boundaries by being casual and contemporary. So much so that it is made accessible (easily bought off the rack from various local and high street brands) and acceptable to wear out with mere denim and shorts.
So when I saw this matching blazer and shorts masterpiece rom Apartment 8, I knew I had to have it. Most especially since I’m a “florals” type of girl and I cannot resist something so paradoxical–a twist of feminine prints on a masculine silhouette.
Truth be told, I’m a huge fan of the brand. They’re very innovative and trendy plus their clothes fit perfectly (har, har, pun intended), but no really, the owner and the designers make sure that the clothes are flattering across all body types. So when they asked me to be one of their blogging partners, I was quick to say yes because I like value for my money when it comes to fashion.
So what is the Apartment 8 brand all about?
The Apartment 8 customers are not distinguished by their age, or the generation they belong to. The brand grabs the interest of students, young professionals, career women, and other fashion-savvy individuals around the ages of 18 to 35. They are brought together by their desire for the latest styles – modern and fashion-forward, conservative yet unconventional. Our core customer exudes a strong personality – one who commands attention without intentionally doing so.
As a style conscious individual, her fashion needs and wants constantly change and this is what we are well aware of. She visits the store for quick fashion fixes and updates, and invests in pieces that go beyond time while giving her the best value for her money.
Simple and feminine, she is drawn to Apartment 8 as the brand allows her to explore and experiment on her fashion sense and creativity. To our customer, no two pieces are alike – it is how she wears, accessorizes, and carries her outfit that makes it different from the rest, making her an ultimate style chameleon.
This is what I’d call a “day outfit” or at least, something I would wear during the day (don’t get me wrong, I’m not saying that it can’t be transitioned all the way to the evening but I just think it’s more appropriate for the day). I just like the fresh and clean vibe it exudes, and how each separate functions holistically. The entire ensemble allows me to move around without being too uncomfortable and just in case the weather calls for it, I can remove the blazer in a matter of seconds.

Honest to God, this has proved to be the most stressful week thus far. I’m at wit’s end trying to strike a balance between my personal life and my professional life because the lines are starting to blur somewhat. I’m just really tired and I don’t understand why things are unfurling the way that they are and at the end of the day, I find it somewhat funny and slightly sad that the “real, most unpretentious” people in the industry are the ones being crucified.
Anyway, it’s all unnecessary stress and negative vibes. I can count on the world correcting its ways and allowing the sinners to be punished (and for anonymous people wreaking havoc to be outed publicly and royally).
So last October 5 was the launch of Apartment 8’s new line and ambassadors. A few bloggers were invited to partake in the runway show to model a few of the brand’s exclusive pieces. The event in itself was a success and the room was filled to the brink! The set was tastefully done and exuded the whole “living in an apartment” cosmopolitan life.
I don’t really think I have to rehash point by point, what occurred that night. I think we’ve all heard a sensationalized and semi-fabricated version from some irrelevant gossip rag. I’m not going to lie, some things went down but at the end of the day, we (my friends and I) stayed for the after-party and enjoyed until the wee hours of the morning.
So anyway, here are some photos from the event:
