Apologies for the lack of posts as of late. I’ve had a tumultuous and stressful week, and I just needed to sort my life out first before anything else. As I’ve previous mentioned, when faced with certain crises, blogging is always the first one to go. Not that it’s a problem considering there are numerous blogs out there for people to select and view, right?
On the bright side however, things have been resolved–or at least, continuously resolving itself, that is. Maybe for a fleeting moment, in the heat of things, life stopped for me literally–but you know, at the end of the day, I still count myself lucky that the world is filled with reasonable and compassionate people.
Coming out of this whole ordeal stronger (as I would like to believe), I’ve learned that one should never allow themselves to fall into a pattern of complacency. Also, when you can and if you can, train yourself to entertain whatever the world has in store, gracefully. It’s not to say that you’re supposed to adapt a jaded and paranoid outlook in life but rather, you should anticipate tackling obstacles hurled your way thinking that you will learn something from it, with your sense of self intact.
Always choose your battles carefully, avoid what isn’t necessary, fix what you can fix, learn to make sacrifices, discern which sacrifices are worth undertaking, and always, always, do by what’s right with the proper guidance.
Enough with the contemplating, allow me to explain quickly my rather casual outfit. Before anything else, forgive me for the squinty-eyed look, it’s my rather futile attempt at keeping my eyes wide open under the glaring sun. Sure, Manila’s been overcast the past few days so you must be wondering how I’m able to afford the slightest hint of sunlight! Fortunately for me, I was awarded the weekend to visit my hometown for my godchild’s baptism and birthday party.
Because my sister wanted to go out to shop for a bit before I left, this was what I wore when I accompanied her to the mall. Cebu is generally a very relaxed city–since it’s hot and humid most of the time, people go out in tiny shorts and skin-baring outfits.
On the other hand, I’m not really fond of dressing up casually. People who know me will say that they rarely see me in denim pants or denim bottoms–save for shorts, and I only wear them when I’m at home lounging or when I’m at the beach (and at some point in my life when I was going through my experimental hipster/grunge-phase).
So when I wear shorts, I make sure they’re fabric-shorts in the cutest colors and flattering cuts. Just so I can still say it’s not as casual as people make it out to be. This pair, in particular, is from Apartment 8, one of my favorite local brands as of late!
Anyway, I filched this pretty orange bag from my sister’s closet. I am in love with the intensity of the color! I like that it’s a cross between classic and trendy–the mix of gold hardware and this bold color. When I whined at my mother for not getting me the same piece, she reasoned that I’ve always been pretty vocal with my dislike for Michael Kors anything. She quoted my phrase (in a falsetto) from late last year where I said, “Please mom, Coach leather over Michael Kors anything.”
It’s not that I’m snooty (though it may seem like it), I just have irrational brand preferences. Don’t take any offense!
But just to set the record straight, I really love this bag, and I am continuously pestering my mother to get me the exact same one. From here on to eternity, I will not be vocal about brands that I dislike–I should just learn to love every single thing that’s of quality rather than being nitpick-y.
Hope everyone is having a great start to their week! Here are two extra photos from our “intimate” family dinner at Choi Palace.
