The temperature’s been rising rapidly these past few days and not in a good way, trust me. The moment you’d step out, you would get accosted by the heat of the sun. I wore a breezy chiffon cape once and when I had to step out to buy coffee, I broke out into sweat and felt really uneasy the entire time. I hate how the fabric would stick to my skin–horrid, horrid feeling.
So now, I’ve resolved to plan out my outfits just so I can make sure they’re comfortable enough for the summer without compromising the “chic” and the “corporate” feel. I swear by silk or chiffon button-downs–pseudo-breezy fabrics that are rich in texture but quite easy to transition from “office wear” to “casual wear.”
Something that looks good with shorts–perfect for summer, skirts, and pants.
So anyway, last Sunday, Kryz Uy (of Thirsty Thought) and I decided to conduct a shoot. Initially, we were supposed to go to the UP grounds and act out as intergalactic beings. You know how in movies, aliens would do research on mankind prior to invading, and so when they step down on Earth, they would manifest as human beings sporting human fashion–only you, as a viewer, would know something’s amiss. Like they would look blank and vapid, if not, a little bit suspicious–think ABC’s “V.”
The Giant Flying Robot, being one of our photographers, wanted this concept so bad. He said he wanted to photograph fashionable “visitors.” I guess he just misses his home planet. GFR is special in such a way that he loves high-faluting concepts behind shoots, he thinks photos are great means of telling a story and sharing his learnings from our planet. Anyway, I digress.
Since the UP Graduation was on-going and creepy dudes were giving us (more Kryz than me) odd stares, we’ve decided to move the shoot to the Ateneo grounds–which was enclosed and safer so we could be as weird as possible.
With little to no direction, we managed with these photos:
Kryz and I have known each other for a long time. She and I went to the same high school in Cebu! Although we were of different batches and never actually conversed back then, I do remember thinking: “Wow, she’s so pretty” and “I wish I could take care of my skin so it’d be that great.”
But it’s a small industry and I’m glad I actually managed to be her friend–I mean, I’m a very introverted person but she’s just so nice, objective, and surprisingly funny.
Did you know Kryz used to eat weeds? She thought they were flowers. Hahaha.
Once again, thank you Giant Flying Robot for the gorgeous photos and thank you Kryz, for being such a good sport–walking in your heels and such.

You must be wondering why we’re not looking at the same direction. That’s because there was another photographer, Mr. Russell Ong, present and taking photos on his awesome Nikon film SLR and DSLR.
They’re not cured yet but here’s a solo obligatory DSLR shot he took.

White Button-down: Lanvin | Necklace: Poisonberry Manila | Yellow Shorts: Forever 21 | Rings: Gold Dot | Clutch: Chinese Laundry | White Socks: SM Department Store | Patent Loafers: Comfit
I love these patent loafers–apart from it being so comfortable, I love how it matches perfectly with my shorts. Owning a pair reminds me so much of high school where I used to wear black loafers for a time. Likewise, like the silk button-downs, it’s something that borders on classic and casual. The tassels add a nice touch to it too!
