It’s summer season once again and in no time, the humidity will get everyone donning less clothes and doing the whole low maintenance approach to dressing.
The great thing is, with the course of fashion as of late, it’s learned to be less exclusive. In fact, it’s starting to embrace things that used to not be in the realm of “fashion”–yes, I am talking about the oh-so-casual Sportswear trend.
Given, this trend has long been making waves–circa 2004, at the peak of So!Cal fashion where personalities like Paris Hilton and Sarah Jessica Parker grabbed a cup of Joe at their local Starbucks wearing velour sweatpants no less.
As of late, its most recent incarnations in the form of Alexander Wang’s T Bra–the article of clothing that’s been haunting me in my sleep. Isabel Marant and her cropped sweatpants and heels on the runway, lauded designer Stella McCartney or Jeremy Scott designing for Adidas–who would’ve thought something that used to be so unglamorous (considering we do, for all intents and purposes, sweat on sportswear) could be so “fashionable”?
Here are my pegs for inspiration:
The last one? Maybe not so much. A little bit grunge, maybe.
Since I am realistic and quite aware that I cannot most likely afford to get one of the Alexander Wang T-Bras, then I’ve shifted my attention to Adidas’ Lumina Line.
It’s a little bit on the pricey side but it looks so soft and gorgeous. The thing is, I’ve been dying to try out Bikram Yoga but like the average working force, I have no time or resources to do so (a month’s fee could be spent on 15 days worth of clothes).
Anyway, I’m still contemplating about this particular cover up. I’ve always been a fan of Adidas so I’m pretty sure it’s a great buy–I’m just not sure if I will be using it for more than “cover-up” purposes.
This other side of me thinks however, that if I so decide to venture into Yoga then at least, I’ll have this gorgeous cover-up to take with me on my first day.
Yes? Or No? What do you think? Should I head over to the nearest store–which is most likely Trinoma or Greenbelt 3 or Rockwell?
